Inner Space Research is a growing outpatient clinical research site specializing in innovative psychiatric/CNS clinical trials for mental health conditions, with a focus on psychedelic-assisted treatments. We conduct Phase II–III studies and are building a collaborative, high-quality research environment grounded in scientific rigor, participant care, and curiosity about the inner landscape of healing.
About the Role
We're seeking a skilled Clinical Rater / Psychometric Rater to join our clinical research team. In this role, you'll conduct diagnostic interviews and administer clinician-rated psychiatric assessments for participants enrolled in our clinical trials, and serve as a facilitator/session monitor for psychedelic trial sessions.
The ideal candidate is a licensed mental health professional with strong clinical judgment and substantial experience using psychiatric rating scales in clinical trials, clinical practice, or both. You're professional, detail-oriented, consistent in how you administer assessments, and comfortable working in a regulated research environment.
What You'll Do
- Administer structured and semi-structured diagnostic interviews and clinician-rated scales according to study protocols and sponsor requirements
- Conduct screening, baseline, and follow-up assessments for clinical trial participants
- Evaluate symptom severity, diagnosis, functioning, and clinical change over time
- Identify and communicate participant safety concerns, including suicidality or worsening psychiatric symptoms
- Maintain consistent rating practices to support reliable study data and minimize rater drift
- Complete sponsor-required rater training, calibration, and certification
- Document assessments accurately in source documents and electronic systems
- Communicate with investigators, coordinators, sponsors, CROs, and study staff
- Follow study protocols, site SOPs, HIPAA, ICH-GCP, and applicable regulations
- Participate in study meetings, monitor visits, and other research activities as needed
- Serve as Facilitator/Session Monitor for psychedelic trial preparatory, dosing, and follow-up sessions
Qualifications
Required: an active Utah professional license in good standing as one of the following:
- Psychologist
- Psychiatrist
- Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
- Physician Assistant
- Psychotherapist (LMFT, LCSW, etc.)
Also required:
- Extensive experience using psychiatric rating scales in clinical trials and/or clinical practice
- Strong diagnostic interviewing skills and clinical judgment
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocol requirements
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a research team
Preferred:
- Clinical trial experience, including prior work as a rater in psychiatric or CNS studies
- Experience with any of these scales: MINI, SCID, HAM-A, HAM-D, MADRS (SIGMA), SIGH-A, C-SSRS, CGI, ATRQ
- Familiarity with sponsor qualification and rater certification processes
- Experience with source documentation and electronic data capture (EDC) systems
- Current GCP training, or willingness to complete it upon hire
Schedule
- Full-time and part-time positions available
- Typically Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
- Some days may run past 5:00 PM based on study and dosing-day needs
